My name is Katie Lynn Daniels. In real life I go by Katie, but on my books I like to use my middle name. It looks more important. I live on a farm in South Central Kentucky, where we raise raw milk, grassfed chicken, beef, and eggs, and basically try to make a living on holistic food.
When my sister and I were still children growing up in St. Petersburg FL, we would play these little games with each other, where we would act out stories that we made up pretty much as we went along. One of these was called Lightning Ranger. I would play Lightning and half his men and a third of his enemies. Mary would play the rest of the enemies and the rest of his men. (Seriously, there were about three different enemies he could fight!) It can only be described as a western/Robin Hood/Medivial/Child Fantasy thing. It is only notable because it stuck around. The rest of our games are long forgotten.
One day I had the brilliant idea to write a book about it. So I did. It was hard work too. Half way through I lost my pencil and I had to finish the last fifteen pages in Crayon! When it was done I read it to my siblings and they all nodded their heads in grave approval. It was quite an accomplishment. Of course, I don't read it now, I don't even reference it. (No you may not see it and no, I'm not posting an excerpt.) That's not the point. The point is that a few years later I decided to write it again. This time I didn't read it to anyone. I didn't even finish it. But a few years later, I wrote it again. And again. And... Well, yes, I'm am still working on it. That's not the point. The point is that it introduced me to the world of writing.
I now have 8 younger brothers and sisters. I am also responsible for a herd of 8 cows. My interests expanded beyond Lightning Ranger. I've written six books! Seven if you count the now infamous LR. I love acting, I'm a director at a local childrens theatre. It's my first time directing, we're doing the greek tragedy Antigone.
